Billingham area guide

In 2011 Billlingham had a population of just over 35,000. The chemical industry and in particular the company ICI played an important role in the growth of Billingham. Today ICI no longer operates in Billingham with the Billingham chemical industry park now becoming a multi company facility.

The town is effectively split into two separate areas by name, old Billingham (the area around the village green adjacent to St Cuthberts church and built up around ICI works) and the more planned estates that have spread out since the 1950s increasing the town’s size and borders towards the villages of Wolviston and Cowpen Bewley to the point of almost incorporating them.

Billingham Beck Valley Country park de

signated as a local nature reserve by English Nature in 1992 won a green flag award in 2005.

Billingham is served by three secondary schools.

The town centre provides the town with famous national retail chains and again is where our Branch is located.

Several developments having taken place around Billingham and it also adjoins the quality residential housing provided at nearby Wynyard.

Billingham Forum was opened in 1967 and houses a swimming pool, ice ring with various sports halls and the forum theatre. In 2011 the Billingham forum returned from its £15 million refurbishment and provides a range of facilities for the local community
