Best Estate Agents Guide 2018

There’s more than meets the eye with Billingham

Why Choose to Live in Billingham

Who would have thought that a small town like Billingham could have inspired one of the top 100 greatest novels of all time?  Well, it did and following a visit to ICI Billingham, Aldous Huxley penned his highly acclaimed “Brave New World” novel and even named characters after some of our roads. Pretty Impressive eh!

Michael Poole Estate Agents are passionate about our town and have an intimate, unrivalled knowledge of the area. In fact, our branch manager Ian McClelland has close on 30 years’ experience when it comes to buying, selling and letting property of all shapes and sizes in and around Billingham.

Our town centre has everything you’d expect and a few things you might not! For more than 50 years now, the town centre has played host to the Billingham International Folklore Festival. Dancers and musicians come from around the world to perform traditional and contemporary dance and Billingham Forum Theatre has seen more than its fair share of big names perform on stage. Names such as David Jason, David Soul, Penelope Keith, Arthur Lowe are but a few.

More conveniently, Billingham benefits from great communication links. The A19, A689, A66 provide easy access to Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees, Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham and beyond.

We understand the importance of good school catchment areas and our knowledge of the area and can point you in the right direction if you want your children to go to Priors Mill, St Pauls or Northfield schools on Wolviston Court or Pentland Avenue & Billingham South in Old Billingham.

To help make your life easier, we’re on hand 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5pm Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday if you’re looking to buy, sell or rent in Billingham, Wolviston, Wynyard and Hartlepool.

People & Property

We are so lucky to have such a diverse selection of homes available to buy and rent. The exclusive Wynyard Estate boasts a great range of executive homes attracting many of the North Easts ‘Movers & Shakers’. We have available £1,000,000 plus Mansion Houses, contemporary new builds and stylish high end modern apartments.

From small garden plots, to large pony paddocks, we are experts in the valuation and disposal of land.

At the other end of the scale, you still get a lot of ‘Bang for your Buck’ here in Billingham and this has made us a very popular destination for buyers looking for a reasonably priced first-time place of their own.

We've won Bronze!

The ESTAS is the largest independent customer service awards scheme for estate and letting agents, mortgage advisers and conveyancers to the UK property industry.

The ESTAS Customer Service Awards are unique because shortlisted and winning firms are selected purely on ratings from the general public.

Because of the feedback from you – our customers – we’ve won a Bronze award for the Yorkshire North region! So we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who voted for us.

Billingham area guide

A Brief History

Originally founded around 650 AD by a group of Saxons known as Billa's people (which is where the name Billingham originated), the population boomed when the demand for explosives created by the First World War led to a massive expansion of Billingham. In 1917, it was decided by the government to build a plant to produce ammonia. Later this was used predominantly in the production of chemicals for fertilizer. Eventually, in 1926, this plant became part of the newly formed ICI.
