Dancers and musicians come from around the world to perform traditional and contemporary dance and Billingham Forum Theatre has seen more than its fair share of big names perform on stage. More conveniently, Billingham benefits from great communication links. The A19, A689, A66 provide easy access to Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees, Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham and beyond.

We understand the importance of good school catchment areas and our knowledge of the area and can point you in the right direction if you want your children to go to Priors Mill, St Pauls or Northfield schools on Wolviston Court or Pentland Avenue & Billingham South in Old Billingham.

Billingham area guide


A Brief History

Originally founded around 650 AD by a group of Saxons known as Billa's people (which is where the name Billingham originated), the population boomed when the demand for explosives created by the First World War led to a massive expansion of Billingham. In 1917, it was decided by the government to build a plant to produce ammonia. Later this was used predominantly in the production of chemicals for fertilizer. Eventually, in 1926, this plant became part of the newly formed ICI.
